The XLIX International Symposium on Operational Research SYM-OP-IS 2022 was held in Vrnjačka Banja, September 19-22, 2022. SYM-OP-IS is a meeting with a long tradition, bringing together researchers, business representatives and experts in the field of operational research every year since 1974. The objectives of SYM-OP-IS are the exchange of scientific and professional information, experience and presentation of new results in the development and application of methods, models and techniques of operational research. The main organizer of the SYM-OP-IS 2022 meeting was the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Economics in cooperation with several scientific research institutions, including the Faculty of Mathematics. The symposium was realized through numerous sections that promote exchange between different areas of optimization, academia and industry, and enable the synthesis of theoretical and practical knowledge from operational research. Members of the Department of NMO actively participated in the work of the symposium by giving talks in the sections, chairing the sections, and serving on the program committee of SYM-OP-IS.
